Ideas for Business

Or: A Treatise on Why I Shouldn't Do That Production Consultancy Lots of businesses would love to throw events from punching up the annual company retreat to a massive product reveal. These companies often do not have any experience in putting on an event and have no idea where to start or what is in scope for them. I could bring my extensive experience in the world of event production to get companies like the best event for the lowest cost so they don't have to spend exorbitant sums on the major players in the industry. Or they could just hire TPN and be done with it. Polling Software Have you ever just wanted to do some simple little survey to find out something for work or just with your friends? Have you then found that the "simple" thing you want is locked behind a paywall, or just functionally impossible in the software you have? You bounce around looking for another one and another one and eventually you resign yourself to just sending that group text instea

Strength and Weaknesses

It's often difficult to reflect on ones own skill set and where we might fall short. Personally I've spent a lot of time managing a business in the past and have an extensive wealth of experience to draw on to find precisely where I fall short! I love to design systems, I'm good at it even. I can design work flows and optimize processes all day long and I have no trouble keeping the whole plot together while I do so. Building documented, repeatable processes was one of my central tasks while working as an operations manager for a production company so I've spent quite some time building out that skill set and am comfortable with that portion of business. Given time I can understand finances, tax paperwork, enough bookkeeping to know if the bookkeeper I've hired is good but it's not my strongest skill set. Still, it's something I have a firm enough grasp on to process and work with. There's many things that I can do that I don't think I necessarily

#1 What I want out of TINST 475

Well I think I'd like to feel prepared to start a business at the end of this.  I have a few ideas for things I'd like to do, software I'd like to build, but I often feel aimless in how to start, or even what part to start with. Do I build software, then think about the rest? Do I develop a whole business plan then start building software? What happens if I plan a whole venture around a specific project and then find that project just doesn't work ? I have some experience working for a startup that gives me a little insight into what I can expect but at the same time lets me know there's a lot still to learn.  At the end of this I want to pick a project and run with it. I want to see what ideas can slot together, and which ones end up on the back burner. Ideally I'd like a better idea of what projects will work and how to penetrate into a market with them. Several of my ideas are for a niche industry that's going to be a little complicated to break into, so
